As the school year winds down, progress continues on the media center renovation at the Rockford Freshman Center. With each passing week, more of the vision for the new space is becoming reality.
Inside the media center, several key areas are beginning to take shape. New ramps have been installed to improve accessibility throughout the space, and the former media center entrance has been enclosed as part of the updated layout. The librarian's office, storage room, and workroom have also been constructed, helping define the spaces that will support both students and staff when the renovation is complete.

Construction crews are also making progress overhead, where steel framework is being installed to support the future ceiling layout. At the same time, new ductwork is being
added throughout the space as building systems begin to come together. These improvements are important steps in transforming the media center into a comfortable, functional environment for learning and collaboration.

Additional improvements include new single-user restrooms for students and staff, creating a more convenient and comfortable experience for everyone who uses the media center.
Behind the scenes, crews have also completed a major infrastructure upgrade by installing new piping between the boiler room and chiller system. While much of this work will never be seen by students, these improvements are essential to keeping the building operating efficiently and comfortably for years to come.

Beyond the Freshman Center, facility improvements are continuing across the district. Work has officially begun on the high school boiler project, and the high school bleacher replacement project is scheduled to get underway in June.
While construction often focuses on buildings and systems, the purpose behind every improvement is much bigger. These projects are investments in the spaces where students learn, connect, participate, and grow. It's exciting to see that future taking shape, and we look forward to sharing more updates as progress continues throughout the summer.
