As the new school year begins, Rockford Schools are filled with activity. With crews working hard on various projects, the community can anticipate improvements that will benefit both students and staff. This report highlights the latest updates from the Rockford Freshman Center and North Rockford Middle School, showcasing the dedicated efforts to enhance the learning environment.
Freshman Center - Interior Upgrades
The new corridor is taking shape and is expected to be ready for students to use after Christmas Break.
The masonry work has been completed in the girls’ and boys’ restrooms as well as in the teachers’ lounge, where mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) rough ins are well underway.
The walls in the Teacher's Lounge are being fireproofed and prepared for painting.
The masonry has been completed in the two new project labs and MEP rough ins
are in progress. These flexible learning spaces will feature a unique stacking glass door that saves floor space by folding overhead instead of rolling back like a traditional garage door.

Freshman Center - Exterior Upgrades
Portions of the exterior are receiving a face lift with new siding.
Gates for the chiller enclosure have been installed.
Paving projects at the Freshman Center and portions of the High School were completed over the summer.

North Rockford Middle School
Progress is also visible at North Rockford Middle School, where HVAC upgrades have improved comfort in key learning spaces such as the art rooms, science rooms, and the special education room. In one of the art rooms, a bulkhead was built to neatly conceal the new ductwork.
The teachers’ lounge has also been refreshed, with HVAC updates completed and a new storefront-style window installed to bring in more natural light and a modern look.

The improvements are coming together one milestone at a time, and we’re eager to keep the community updated as projects move forward.
